Team photo at Coldest Night of the Year, the Courthouse Square, Goderich, February 28 2026.

Details

When: February 28, 2026. 1600h-1800h.
Where: The Courthouse Square, Goderich.
What: Fundraising walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.

Objective

To support the Huron Homelessness Initiative including shelter for women and children escaping violence, shelter supports for youth, the Bridge Housing and Stability program, and transitional housing.

Significance

Organized hate targets identifiable groups, including people experiencing homelessness. Far-right extremist ecosystems often center misogyny and can escalate into violence against women. No Hate in Huron stands for dignity, equality, and safety. We reject hate and support communities targeted by it.

Challenges

As a team, No Hate in Huron set ourselves a fundraising goal of $300.

Result

By the day of the walk (February 28, 2026), No Hate in Huron raised $1270 which was 423% of our fundraising goal!

No Hate in Huron recognizes the incredible work of our friends at “Bernie’s Bunch” for their consistently superhuman fundraising success in this important cause.

Lessons Learned

The work of No Hate in Huron is closely aligned with broader struggles against the housing affordability crisis and against the epidemic of intimate partner violence.

Future Implications

No Hate in Huron looks forward to participating in Coldest Night of the Year every year.
