Congratulations to No Hate in Huron on your one year anniversary! I wish I could be with you in person for your peace march and party but I am with you in spirit! I urge everyone to sign the beautiful letter to Gord Leamen. It brought me to tears.
These are very hard days, with violence, intolerance and racism growing in so many parts of the world. It is imperative that we take a stand against hatred, lest it grow like a cancer in our midst.
Every time we stand up to a bigot, fight for justice, help someone more vulnerable, welcome a newcomer, guide the young, we are the antidote to the hatred, violence and injustice in our world, personified by the signs on Gord Leamen’s property. While you might not get through to Gord with this beautiful letter, you are — more importantly — putting out a counter narrative to young people who might otherwise have been swayed by his hateful messages.
I believe with all my heart that there is a dear “goodness” in our world and hearts that will prevail. I send love and support to you this anniversary.
